All of our Family plans are priced including GST and include:
- Blocking of inappropriate web, FTP and P2P sites and usenet newsgroups.
- Filtering of search engines for keywords
- Internet access via dialup or broadband
- Email mailbox with up to 5 names (aliases)
- Email virus disabling service
- SPAM email filtering
- Free technical helpdesk
- Personal website up to 1Mb (at Watchdog homepages)
Family Bitstream plansWatchdog can give you family-safe broadband access using Telecom's phone network and our leading Watchdog filtering service. Bitstream provides speeds from around 5 times dialup modem speeds to around 70 times. It is an “always-on” connection and allows your phone line to be used for Internet and phone calls at the same time.
All our plans are “flat rate” so there are no excess data charges if you go over your limit. If you go over, we may contact you to recommend a change in your plan.
Some of the key points are:
- If you are not sure that you can get broadband in your area, phone us on 0508 928 243 and get us to do a line check for you.
- An ADSL Router/Modem is required for broadband - we only recommend Ethernet ones and they may require a network card to be installed in your computer. These may be purchased from any computer retailer. If you wish to purchase a router from us, the pricing is as follows;
- Dynalink standard 4 port router (pre-configured, includes 1 line filter and courier charge to your door) - $112.
- Wireless Dynalink 4 port router (pre-configured, includes 1 line filter and courier charge to your door) - $169.
- You also need line filters for every telephone jack-point that is used (no matter what is plugged into it, e.g. phone, fax, PC). These can also be purchased from any computer retailer or we can supply them to you for $10 each.
- New connection fees - Telecom charges $99 to set up Bitstream at your local exchange for what they call a “self-install”. You need to install line filters for each phone, fax machine, etc that is plugged into your JetStream phone line. A self-install is free at present if you sign on a 12 month contract.
- Alternately, Telecom charges $248 for a “full install” where they come to your site and install a single filter for all your phones, etc. This is required if you have a monitored alarm in your home. A full-install is only $149 at present if you sign on a 12 month contract.
- If you are already on broadband - If you are using Telecom JetStream or you have bitstream broadband with another ISP other than Telecom, Telecom charge $25 for you to change over to our broadband service. We bill you directly for this.
- Watchdog charges $24.95 setup for new customers. There is no setup charge for existing customers.

Family Wired Country plansWired Country (WC) gives customers in the wider Auckland and Hamilton regions access to another broadband option. WC is a wireless Internet service where a small antenna is mounted on your home. In most areas, the WC service requires a clear line-of-sight from your location to the nearest Wired Country point of presence, such as the Sky Tower in Auckland, Pukekohe Hill in Pukekohe, and Waikato Hospital in Hamilton.
